therapies I practice. All have been practiced for many hundreds of years
by mankind.
My Background
A bit about me well, where
does one start? I have always been visually impaired I suffer from an eye
disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) for
short. Much of my later lifehasbeen guided by my eyesight condition I am at
the stage now where everything looks like I am looking through 'frosted glass'.
I had worked for many
years in the carpet trade as a qualified fitter and then
as my sight got worse
into the retail sector in a management role. In 1990 I could no longer continue
in this role so I re-trained at the RNIB Loughborough College doing diplomas in
Information Technology (IT) and started a new career in the deskbound office
environment, again my sight changed for the worse and due to trying to cope with
a speech system on my PC, a telephone ringing and face to face enquiry's I
decided the stress was just not worth it so Decided to re-train in something
more 'hands on' so in 2000 I did a residential course at the Royal National College for the Blind
in Hereford. The course was 'Remedial Therapy' it did not matter now as my eyes
get worse as I trained as a visually impaired person primarily in Massage and
Reflexology and am also now qualified in Seated Acupressure Massage from the Academy
of On Site Massage
I traveled back and forth from Hereford to Bletchley in Buckinghamshire, UK every weekend to see my wife and daughter, but now the traveling is over and I started my business in September 2001.
So here we are GJA Alternative Therapies now into existence, a sole trader whose aim is to promote Alternative Therapy to achieve a better state of health for all with a more holistic approach. So here we are GJA Alternative Therapies now into existence, a sole trader whose aim is to promote Alternative Therapy to achieve a better state of health for all with a more holistic approach.Unfortunately for me due to RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) I now primarily practice Reflexology, Seated Acupressure Massage and encompass techniques used in Vertical Reflex Therapy in my Reflexology. Friday is the Clinic Day and Saturday mornings can sometimes be made available. all appointments are by telephone.
Reflexology in Milton Keynes
Mainly working on the soles of the feet,
sometimes hands, to locate areas within the body where energy has possibly
become congested to a point where outward signs may be affecting ones own health
and well being. Reflex points are stimulated on the feet to encourage our
body to 'self heal' small crystal like deposits can be felt in certain areas of
the feet which are believed to relate to areas of the body, by releasing these
deposits we are able to literally flush the body through and encourage fresh
energy to flow and re-balance our body to our own individual 'homeo-statis'.
A full Reflexology session takes 45 to 50 minutes to complete following an
initial consultation to ensure the client has no contra indications to this form
of therapy.
Seated Acupressure Massage in Milton Keynes
A specially designed ergonomic chair is used for
the client to be supported in a semi kneeling position with head forward resting
a face cradle to support the neck and shoulders, this position allows easy
access to the neck, shoulders, arms and all of the upper and lower backs along
with the arms.
By the practitioner using a combination of finger, thumb and elbow pressure on
numerous pressure points on the clients upper body this will allow muscular
tension to decrease, relaxation to increase, energy to flow and in a simple
sense allow the body to re-balance, promote the ridding of toxins and re-vitalise
the body, this form of seated massage is done through clothes and is very useful
for working in the workplace it also only takes approx 30 minutes to complete a
set sequence.
A Combination
I have developed a one hour session of the two therapies above which offers
approx 30 minutes of short sequence Reflexology and 25 mins of Seated
Acupressure Massage. This combined therapy offers the physical 'hands on'
massage strokes typically used in table massage along with the inner body
balancing techniques benefitted from Reflexology.
Price Guide
Full Reflexology £30.00 approx 50 minutes
Seated Acupressure Massage £15.00 approx 30 minutes.
Combination of above £30.00 approx 50 minutes.
